Is inconsistent growth in network marketing really an effort problem? My experience says no. The truth is that it is more of a structure problem, specifically a lack of the right daily activity plan.
After 20+ years developing sales strategies for tens of thousands of independent business owners, first as a corporate Chief Sales and Enablement Executive and now coaching women who lead teams, I can tell you the pattern is almost always the same. The leaders I work with are, indeed, working. Sometimes harder than they did when things were growing. They are posting, messaging, supporting teams with calls and meetings, and attending events. The activity is there in abundance. From the outside, the business looks alive and thriving.
Yet their revenue fluctuates from month to month, momentum feels unpredictable, and that stalled feeling perpetuates a loss of confidence, ongoing frustration, and burnout.
The good news? That pattern is common, and it is fixable. When daily activity is undefined for the team, the result is reactive performance. And when performance is reactive, results become unpredictable. If this sounds less like a strategy problem and more like a nervous system running on high alert, that is worth its own look, which is why I wrote about how your nervous system affects your business separately.
It makes sense. Inconsistent activity creates inconsistent income. The real work is discerning what we actually mean by inconsistency.
Here is what most leaders never learn: a real network marketing daily activity plan exists to prevent sales inconsistency. Most people do not know it because it was never modeled for them. A real growth plan also exists that feels comfortable enough for anyone to follow.
Most daily activity plans fail because they emphasize motion instead of the right motion. This is exactly what I mean by discerning inconsistency. Somehow consistency always gets translated to “just do more,” as if it were that simple.
“Be visible.” “Reach out more.” “Increase volume.” That becomes the advice of the inexperienced leader.
There is a huge misunderstanding hiding in there: activity alone does not create duplication. Any type of action is not the point.
Leaders who plateau are never under-working. They are misallocating effort. Content creation replaces conversation. Prospecting replaces follow-up. New leads replace retention.
Sure, the business feels busy. The problem is that it does not stay controlled.
Here is the shift. Stability requires a daily, simple, measurable method of working that balances pipeline development (new prospects), conversion, and retention every day, not occasionally.
A scalable system answers one question clearly: what must occur today to keep my growth predictable? Secondarily, it has to meet the authenticity test, so that you and your team feel like yourselves, and not weird, when you do it. Simplicity, clarity, and authenticity must all be present for any system to gain momentum. People have to feel like they can sell like themselves.
The 3/3/3: 9 Daily Conversations for Growth framework does exactly this. It clearly identifies the daily work that matters:
Three NEW conversations started.
Three previous conversations ADVANCED.
Three conversations FOLLOWED UP.
Nothing dramatic. Each day, nine structured touchpoints sustain exposure, move decisions forward, and strengthen relationships. When those three types of conversations are maintained daily, growth, sales, and retention numbers steady, and confidence climbs.
Prospecting makes people nervous because it gets confused with pitching, and pitching right out of the gate feels inauthentic. Prospecting becomes uncomfortable the moment it feels transactional. It becomes far more impactful, fun, and meaningful when it is approached with calm confidence.
Here is the thing: new conversations are not presentations. They are designed to start a conversation by getting past the primal brain. Connect over the exact moment the prospect feels the pain. Ask. Listen. If alignment surfaces, ask permission to share more. That restraint preserves positioning, and it is the same instinct behind selling naturally rather than performing a script.
Leaders who understand how to prospect without urgency create stronger pipelines and stronger teams. They do not chase interest. They identify fit. There is a difference.
In the Calm Confidence world of sales, duplication depends less on recruitment spikes and more on disciplined, consistent, meaningful follow-up. Customers who feel supported reorder. Team members who feel guided and seen stay active. Prospects who once hesitated often return when given space and a clear follow-up.
Follow-up is not reactive outreach. It is structured stewardship and relationship building.
Think about it. A simple check-in after ordering. Something unexpected within 24 hours. Product support after delivery. A timely message before product runs low. For a business builder, it is a conversation with a team member whose activity has dipped.
These are not flashy, manipulative moves. They are foundational to retention, and retention is what reduces volatility. That matters enormously, because volatility is what destabilizes most network marketing businesses.
A structured daily activity plan lowers the emotional highs and lows. Consider the math: nine conversations a day produce more than 250 touchpoints per month. Even conservative conversion rates at that level create measurable stability in customer acquisition and team growth.
Speed matters too. Harvard Business Review research on the short life of online sales leads found that firms responding within an hour were far more likely to qualify a lead than those who waited a day or longer (The Short Life of Online Sales Leads, HBR, 2011). Structured outreach is not pressure. It is proven discipline.
Many leaders believe they need larger audiences. What they usually need is consistent conversation volume. Conversation volume compounds, and when it is defined and disciplined, the compounding becomes predictable. Predictability is what stabilizes growth.
Most leaders lean too heavily into inspiration, but inspiration does not duplicate. Clarity does.
When daily activity is defined, it can be modeled, recognized, and rewarded. When it is rewarded, it replicates, and growth extends beyond the individual. That is the entire point of network marketing: It is a leadership move, not a motivational one, because the system only duplicates if the leader running it has actually retired the old version of herself and is still setting the defaults.
3/3/3: 9 daily conversations is a simple daily activity plan that produces results over time.
Three NEW.
Three ADVANCE.
Three FOLLOW-UP.
Clear. Measurable. Transferable.
That is how duplication fosters growth. Everything else is noise.
Network marketing remains a relationship-driven model that any people-oriented person can do well. Platforms will always change. Messaging trends will shift. Structured conversation endures.
If your performance feels inconsistent, examine your daily operating method before you question your commitment. Defined activity creates discipline, and discipline, over time, creates the stability we all crave.
The one thing that matters most is this: when systems are clear and aligned, growth stabilizes. That is the standard, and it works like a charm.
Growth does not require intensity. It requires precision.

We’ll see you next time,

It’s a defined set of daily actions that keeps your growth predictable instead of reactive. A good one balances three things every day: starting new conversations, advancing existing ones, and following up. The point isn’t to do more. It’s to do the right things consistently enough that they duplicate.
Far fewer than most leaders think. The 3/3/3 framework is nine focused conversations a day, which most people can complete in under an hour when the activity is defined ahead of time. What drains your day isn’t the work. It’s the not knowing what to work on.
Usually because the daily activity was never actually defined, so there’s nothing clear to copy. Inspiration doesn’t duplicate. Clarity does. When your team can see exactly what a productive day looks like, they can model it, and that’s the entire mechanism duplication runs on.
Stop treating new conversations like presentations. A new conversation is meant to connect over the moment someone feels the pain, ask, and listen, not pitch. If alignment surfaces, you ask permission to share more. That restraint is what protects your positioning and makes prospecting feel human.
Because the activity is inconsistent, even when it feels busy. When daily conversations are undefined, performance becomes reactive, and reactive performance produces unpredictable income. Defining and maintaining a steady conversation volume is what smooths the highs and lows.
