Your sales personality is not fluff or something to shrink away from. It is your edge. If sales training has ever made you feel like you were pretending to be someone else, you, my friend, were not the problem. The mismatch was. This is the part so many women never get told and as a result, think they are bad at selling. The truth is, you do not have to become louder, bossier, or more pushy to sell. You have to sell the way you naturally connect.
This matters so much because up to 90% of your sales success comes from personality, not pitch (or price). I call it your Authentic Sales DNA™. DNA is your Distinctive Traits, your Natural Communication Style, and your Aligned Values. When those three are visible to your prospects, they feel seen and safe and safe prospects say yes. That is the heart of sales confidence for women.
I will repeat this until I die, most women do not actually hate sales. They hate selling in a way that makes them feel out of character. You tried the big energy script, the “close by Friday” line, and sounding like the guru. It still felt off. So your nervous system did what it is supposed to do, and protected you. It said, “let’s not do that again,” which showed up in many different ways like procrastination, lack of motivation, or losing focus.
Nothing was wrong with your motivation. The strategy just did not match your personality so, you took a back seat, even though you wanted to succeed.
Once you match your sales style with your Authentic Sales DNA™, you’ll find that the pressure drops, your words land better, and your confidence rises because you are not pretending. And just in case you think it’s too late for you, its not. I know what that feels like and I remember that feeling well.
Here is the shift. Your personality is not something you translate into sales speak. It is the sales speak. That is why this works so well for women who lead with care, clarity, or calm. You do not have to get better at sounding like someone else (which is super unnatural). You have to get clearer about how you already build trust outside of selling and leverage it.
